Windshied Wiper Replacement

You really should replace your windshield wipers at least once a year before your winter driving season begins or sooner if they are worn and you are going to need them to clear your windshield of mud or debris from your off-road activities.

Wiper Blade Removal

Open up your wipers

Raise up your wiper arms and inspect your blades for ware. You can see that mine has split and peeled away.

Pinch the lock

Pinch the locking mechanism and move the blade towards the arm.

Slide the arm up.

Move the blade towards the arm to remove it from the lock.

Remove the wiper from the arm.

And slide the blade off of the arm.

Wiper Blade Install

Installation is basically the opposite of removal.

Line 'er up

Line the blade up and insert the arm hook so that it will engage the lock.

Position

Slide the arm hook over the lock.

Lock

And lock (‘snap’) the blade in position.

Should look like this.

Wiper should look like this.

Arm alignment

Make sure the blade moves freely on the arm and is secure.

Done!

And put the arm back down on the windshield and replace the other wiper the same way.

Note: This is the no-brainer part of the job. Your wipers don’t work quit as well when they are not put back down and your Trooper will look really silly going down the road with your wipers in the extended position. — Just thought I’d mention that.
