Hooyah!

Mr. Movida @ 304,xxx and counting.

It is wonderful, yes indeed. After three months shy of being on the roads of this great country (that would be America folks) and over 304,8++ miles, the great State of Oregon has once again seen it proper to allow Mr. Movida to again PASS his smog examination and be allowed to re-register. HOOYAH!

As Mr. Movida will after this year be over the fine age of twenty years, he will no longer need to present himself to the State for this exam. People tell me time and time again about how bad the heads and engines are in these old Troopers, but I would have to say that this is one V6 jimmy that wants to contest those comment.

Way to go, Mr. Mo…

Got Manuals?

Got Manuals...?

Time and time again I read posts on forums from guys asking questions about their vehicles that I know are addressed in the repair manuals available at most auto parts stores. While it may be true that these manuals may not be as good as dealer or other pro-mech shop manuals, they are at least good enough to help a guy research a problem and if not solve it at least be able to understand his problem well enough to ask a decent question on a forum.

Time and time again I see questions like: ‘Hey, my truck don’t run. WTF is wrong with it’? – and that is about as good as the question gets. And often times the Subject of the post isn’t much better. How do I know if I even want to take the time to read your posted question if you can’t tell me what it is about?

How the hell is someone supposed to help a guy resolve his issue if the poster can’t even ask a decent question that gives those of us willing to help some specifics to the problem like what year, make or model and what kind of motor, or at least some details of what the guy tried that did or did not work towards resolving the problem.

If you want help on a forum, first try to understand and fix your problem. If you get stuck then at least maybe you can ask a decent question and not just expect someone to jump in and fix it for you w/o any effort on your part.

End of rant…

Ten Years to Dyin’

Well, it finally happened.

Ten Years to Die...

A dead battery puts Mr. Movida parked in the drive with that sad ‘no go’ look on his grill.

But hey, no complaints though really. You see, Mr. Movida runs an Interstate when it comes to a battery and that old Interstate started and lit up Mr. Movida w/o fail for TEN YEARS!!!

Now, Mr. Movida has a brand new Interstate and that ‘no go’ look is now gone gone and he starts with a smile.

Ten Years to Go...

But let’s not stop there... While workin’ up the cash for the new Interstate, Driver did Mr. Movida another big favor (Driver has a real fond affection for Mr.  Movida ya see). Yep, Driver thought seeing as how we were talkin’ bout startin’ up, why not give that old starter a rebuild and really give Mr. Movida a kick start.  So he did. A real good cleanin’ and some new brushes (unbelievable that that starter worked man let me tell you. Speaks highly for Delco-Remy) and Mr. Movida started I swear even before Driver turned the key (a little shot of carburetor cleaner down the throttle body helped some but I suppose we can all use a shot now and then to start our day, don’t you think…).

We will be posting the write up for the starter rebuild here on the blog shortly. Stay Tuned…
